Vision & Objectives

Since its foundation in 2001, the ASS alumni association has been closely associated with the German Sport University Cologne. Students, alumni and employees affectionately call Germany’s only sports university “Spoho” and appreciate its international reputation just as much as the Cologne joie de vivre and customs.
The Spoho is a meeting place of sports enthusiasts from different cultures who represent the sports university to the outside world with pride and responsibility. To promote the social community of students, alumni and staff and to strengthen the identification with the Spoho, is an integral part of the association’s DNA. Although the ASS – Alumni Sportmedien/Sportmanagement an der Deutschen Sporthochschule e.V. is an independent association and works autonomously, the Spoho is and remains the home of the association.

The work of the ASS – Alumni Sportmedien/ Sportmanagement takes place on a personal and joint level. The goal of the association is to find synergies for all members and to act in a career-enhancing way. The members are former students of the German Sport University Cologne (primarily from the fields of sports management, sports journalism, media & communication as well as sports development and politics) and therefore all connected through and/or with sports. This is expressed in the closeness of action among each other. The encounters within the association are always respectful and professional. The offers and the public actions of the association always strive for a high quality.

The vision of the alumni association ASS is to set valuable impulses for the future of sports business together with our network. We achieve this by permanently developing the strength of the network and actively living participation.

Specifically, the ASS pursues the following objectives, a.o.:

  • Assistance for students and young graduates in the transition from university to working life
  • Regular opportunities for members, friends, and sponsors of the ASS to meet each other
  • Expansion of the cooperation between the major in sport management, sport media, and sport communication at the German Sport University Cologne and institutions of the sport industry
  • Regular supply of members with current information from the sport industry
