The graduate association ASS – Alumni Sportmedia/Sportmanagement of the German Sport University Cologne annually awards two prizes for outstanding theses.
ASS Bachelor thesis
The prize is awarded annually for a Bachelor thesis that combines theory and practice in the field of sport management or sport communication. In the thesis, theoretical findings should have been transferred into practice and/or tested in practice.
The award is associated with a cash prize of 250 euros. The announcement is intended exclusively for students or graduates of the Bachelor programmes B.A. Sport Management and Sport Communication as well as B.A. Sport Journalism of the German Sport University Cologne. Applicants do not have to be members of the ASS.
The submitted works will be reviewed by a three-member jury and evaluated according to the criterion “transfer performance”.
ASS Master thesis
Starting in 2019, the prize will also be awarded for an outstanding master thesis. The prize will be awarded to a thesis that has achieved a special transfer between theory and practice in the field of sport management, sport communication or sport policy. In the work, theoretical findings should have been transferred into practice and/or tested in practice. In addition, the theoretical contribution should also have been clearly worked out.
The award is associated with a cash prize of 250 euros. The competition is exclusively open to students or graduates of the Master programmes M.Sc. Sport Management, M.A. Sport, Media and Communication Research and M.A. International Sport Development and Politics of the German Sport University Cologne. Applicants do not have to be members of the ASS.
The submitted works will be reviewed by a three-member jury and evaluated according to the criterion “transfer performance”.
